Welcome to the Waterford Garden Trail
The Waterford Garden Trail highlights 15 different garden attractions throughout County Waterford. There is a wide variety of gardens open for viewing, ranging from the gardens of the great old houses, to smaller gardens and garden centres.
Range of gardens
The Waterford Garden Trail offers something special for both the novice and experienced gardener. Many days can be spent enjoying a rich variety of flora and fauna species, all of which contribute to the uniqueness of the gardening attractions on the trail. A number of the older gardens have been lovingly restored through the years, while the smaller ones are maturing beautifully with time.
Visiting a garden here in Waterford is an especially rich experience, as many of the great old houses and historic estates also offer guided tours of their properties, which give the visitor a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Waterford’s rich heritage.
As the gardens are dispersed throughout the county, visitors will also have the opportunity to drive through some of the most spectacularly beautiful countryside – from the wild and rugged mountain ranges, which frame the county to the north, to the majestic and breathtaking coastline to the south.
Groups are most welcome to visit all members of the Waterford Garden Trail. Groups can enjoy guided tours of the houses open to the public and of the gardens- usually with the owner or head gardener as your guide. You may also choose to enjoy afternoon tea or light refreshments in such unrivalled settings. To ensure your visit is as enjoyable as possible please make an appointment with the garden you wish to visit.
If you wisely choose to visit more than one of our lovely member gardens please allow us to assist you in making your arrangements. In association with the Waterford Garden Trail, Lismore Heritage Centre offers a wonderful package- The Great Garden Trail Day Out. Your group simply selects your destinations and Lismore Heritage Centre will make all the arrangements, organising an itinerary especially tailored to your needs.
